3 vehicles used by Late King Tribhuvan and Mahendra in the museum

Three more vehicles used by kings in the Narayanhiti Palace Museum have been put on exhibition for the general public.

On Wednesday, More three vehicles used by late King Tribhuwan Bir Bikram Shah and Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah are kept on exhibition. After repairing the old vehicles and by painting them too, those vehicles are kept for exhibition.

The Narayanhiti Palace Museum and Republic Monument Management and Operation Development Committee have opened the three vehicles used by the former king Tribhuvan and Mahendra today for the general public to see.

Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Maheshwar Neupane informed that there is a policy to keep all the materials used by the former royal family in the exhibition.

Secretary Neupane, who is also the chairman of the committee, promised to make the museum more organized by placing the exhibitable materials gradually so that the public can see them.

The museum also has kept a Ba A 2 used by former king Tribhuvan and another Ford company vehicle with an undisclosed number on public display for a public. According to the committee, both vehicles are of  Ford company.

Buddhi Bahadur Gurung, the information officer of the committee, informed that the car of number Ba A 2 was started using by Tribhuvan and his family. 

            

The committee also informed that the other pick-up vehicle was in use by former King Tribhuvan when he used to go for hunting.

Similarly, the vehicle of number Ba 1 Cha 2663 which was in use by former King Mahendra has also been made public. This car of Austin Princess Company Model 1963 will also be available to the general public for observation from now on. 

 

"Though all three vehicles are kept there by painting them but their mechanical condition is still dilapidated", Information officer Gurung said.

Narayanhiti Palace was established as a museum with the declaration of Nepal as a federal democratic republic on 2065 BS Jestha 15.

Of the 47 rooms in the main building of the palace, 30 rooms have been opened for public viewing. The committee is preparing to open the remaining 17 rooms after studying them. 

Narayanhiti Royal Palace has spreaded over the area of about 744 ropani and the museum has occupied an area of about 511 ropanis of the Narayanhiti Royal Palace.

Similarly, the Nepali army is staying there by occupying an area of about 243 ropanis in the Durbar area. Since there are some historical sites in the area occupied by the Nepali Army too, the museum has been demanding that site should also be opened for public viewing.
