A total of 84 political parties have been registered at the Election Commission for the parliamentary and provincial elections.
The elections are scheduled to be held in a single phase on November 20 later this year.
As per Article 271 of the Constitution of Nepal, 2015, parties must register or renew their registration before the election.
The EC has asked political parties interested to participate in the federal and provincial elections to register with it between August 7 and 16.
The Election Commission’s deadline for registering political parties for election purposes expired yesterday in August 16.
Of the 116 political parties registered with the commission, only 84 will be vying in the upcoming election.
