'Advance team' in Lumbini for Modi's security

A team including Indian security personnel has landed in Lumbini from an Indian Air Force plane to provide security for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Lumbini.

The plane from New Delhi, India landed at Gautam Buddha International Airport via Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport in Wednesday.

The 'advance team' on the Indian Air Force's Illusion aircraft IC-76 will provide security for Modi. The plane is scheduled to return to Delhi same day.

According to sources at Gautam Buddha Airport, a team of 30-40 people was on board the plane. 4-5 bullet proof vehicles have been brought from the plane. Other security items have also been brought.

India's Special Protection Group has been deployed under Modi's protection. The group has been overseeing the security arrangements for the Prime Minister of India at home and abroad.

Modi is scheduled to visit Lumbini on May 22 on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti. He will fly to Kushinagar, India, and then to Lumbini by helicopter.

 

 

Nepal has also made necessary preparations for Modi's security. Rupendehi Police Chief SP Rabindra Regmi informed Pardafas that security arrangements have been completed.

During the BIMSTEC conference held in Nepal, around 10,000 security personnel of all the four security agencies were deployed in uniform and plain clothes for the security of Modi and others.

Even then, about 27 commanders of the Special Protection Group (SPG) were deployed from India for Modi's security. Two bulletproof vehicles were brought to Nepal for Modi's use.

Security adviser Ajit Doval has been monitoring and directing Modi's security. Especially Z-plus level security has been given to Modi. Z-plus level security is the process of providing security in the open from very close by a squad of 25 to 27 people.
