Raju Aryal, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Armed Police Force, Nepal, has been recommended for promotion to Additional Inspector General (AIG).
A meeting of the promotion committee held by the Ministry of Home Affairs till late on Sunday night has recommended AIG promotion to Aryal, who is number one in the list.
Now, as per the recommendation of the promotion committee, the Council of Ministers will appoint the promotion.
The Armed Police Force, Nepal had issued a three-day notice in 30 Chaitra to promote the vacant AIG.
AIG Pushparam KC of the Armed Police Force was promoted to the post of Inspector General of the Armed Forces (IGP) on Wednesday.
DIGs of the Armed Police Force Raju Aryal, Narayan Dutt Poudel and Chandra Prakash (CP) Gautam were the main contenders.
Now the way is open for Aryal to become the Inspector General of the Armed Forces. He will be the Inspector General in Baishakh. The Armed Police Regulations have made arrangements to make IGP from AIG.
As per Rule 53 of the Armed Police Regulations 2072, there is an arrangement to appoint Inspector General from Additional Inspector General.
Even Poudel, who is considered his main rival after he becomes the Inspector General for 22 months.
If Aryal becomes the inspector general, he will be able to become the inspector general due to Poudel's service period even after completing his four-year term and going on compulsory leave.
DIGs Aryal and Poudel joined the Nepal Police in 2054, while DIG Gautam entered the service as an officer of the Nepal Army in 2052.
