“Buddhism and Buddhist Heritage in Pakistan” book launch in Kathmandu

Today, the Embassy of Pakistan organized the launching ceremony of a book on Pakistan’s Buddhist heritage titled “Buddhism and Buddhist Heritage in Pakistan” authored by eminent author Om Charan Amatya.

 Prem Bahadur Ale, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation of Nepal, graced the occasion. 
 Bidya Sundar Shakya, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) presided over the event.

Special Guests at the occasion included  Esala Ruwan Weerakoon, Secretary General SAARC Secretariat, Kathmandu;  Himalee Arunatilaka, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal; Ambassador of Thailand to Nepal;  Sein Oo, Ambassador of Myanmar to Nepal; and Prof. Dr. Haridaya Ratna Bajracharya, Vice Chancellor, Lumbini Buddhist University, Lumbini besides venerable monks and Buddhist scholars.

Addressing the occasion,  Bidya Sundar Shakya, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City highlighted the significance of cultural heritage as an important facet of people-to-people contact. He termed the Buddhist heritage a joint legacy of both countries. 

Syed Haider Shah, Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal highlighted the significance of cultural and historical linkages in strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Nepal. He commended the author for his meticulous work.
