Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi has paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday, bilateral relations and exchange of cooperation between the two countries were discussed.
During the meeting, Ambassador Yanqi congratulated Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on holding the local elections.
Ambassador Yanqi said that Chinese President Xi Jinping had congratulated Prime Minister Deuba on the completion of the process, saying that the process of self-determination of his people's representatives was a good one.
She said that on the day of the recently concluded local level election, she had gone to various places to observe the election and was happy to see the people enthusiastically participating in the election.
Ambassador Yanqi also thanked the security forces through the Home Minister for the good security arrangements during the recent visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Nepal.
During the meeting, Home Minister Khand told Ambassador Yanqi that the government is now in the process of formulating the budget after completing the task of forming the local government.
He thanked China for its continued support so far for peace, stability, development and prosperity and expressed confidence in its continued support in the days to come.
During the meeting, Ambassador Yanqi informed the Home Minister that preparations were being made for a direct flight from Kathmandu to Kunming, China from May 30.
Ambassador Yanqi said Nepal would decide on his own development model, adding that China had goodwill in it.
