Drone attack suspected in Abu Dhabi, three killed

At least three persons were killed including two Indian citizens in what seems to be a drone attack at an International Airport at Abu Dhabi today.

As per Times of India, online media, three fuel tankers exploded in an industrial area near an International Airport. The United Arab Emirates’s authorities have suspected that the explosion was occurred due to drone attack. A minor had broke out around the airport following the attack.

Meanwhile, Yemen based Houthi movement have claimed responsibility for the attack. The movement is said to be backed by Yemen.

“Initial investigations found parts of a small plane that could possibly be a drone at both sites that could have caused the explosions and the fire,” the police said in a statement on state news agency WAM

The military spokesman of Yemen’s Houthi movement, which is battling a military coalition led by Saudi Arabia and including the UAE, said the group launched a military operation “deep in the UAE” and would announce details in coming hours.
Oh the other side, pro-coalition forces backed by the UAE have recently joined fighting against the Houthis in Yemen’s evergy producing regions of Shabwa and Marib.

The UAE had largely scaled down its military presence in Yemen in 2019 but continues to hold sway through Yemeni forces it armed and trained.
The Houthis have earlier launched cross-border missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia and have in the past threatened to attack the UAE.
