The Election Commission (EC) has made the political parties clear on the necessary process, and the documents required for the submission of a closed list under the proportional quota as part of the November 20 election.
The EC has already made public the electoral calendar that September 18 and 19 are the days to submit the closed list under the proportional quota for November 20 election to the provincial assembly and federal parliament. The EC has also set up the office of the chief returning officers. The political parties are urged to mandatorily provide the necessary documents as per law and in line with the inclusive principles.
Issuing a press release on Sunday, the spokesperson for the proportional electoral system at EC, Guru Prasad Wagle, said the documents that fail to meet the criteria would not be registered. The procedure to follow and the document checklist have been mentioned on the EC's website, he added.
After investigating the documents, the EC will urge the political parties for correction, if any, from September 20 to 25. Similarly, the parties are obliged to submit the corrected list from September 26 to October 2.
The EC has scheduled that political parties can file candidacies under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) on October 9.
