Finance Minister Sharma sworn in

Newly appointed Finance Minister of Nepal Janardan Sharma has taken the oath of office and secrecy before President Bidya Devi Bhandari today.

President Bhandari administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed Finance Minister Sharma.

Sharma was sworn in at the Office of the President amidst a special ceremony Sunday evening. 

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, and Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota among others were presented during the oath-taking ceremony. 

Newly appointed Minister Sharma had resigned from his post after allegations he allowed the involvement of an unauthorized person in changing tax rates during the annual budget formation.

The parliamentary special committee formed to investigate charges of budget tampering against him gave a clean chit concluding that unauthorized persons didn’t change tax rates in the budget for the current fiscal year.

Earlier today, President Bhandari appointed Sharma to the post of Finance Minister as per the recommendation of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
