A delegation led by Chairperson of France-Nepal Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group, Daniel Salmon, paid a courtesy call on Chairperson of the National Assembly, Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, at his office, Singha Durbar, today.
On the occasion, NA Chair Timilsina lauded the contribution of the Group to strengthen Nepal-France relations.
Saying the relationship between the two countries is marked by cordiality as well as based on equality and mutual understanding, he expressed the belief that the exchange of such a high-level visit would give impetus to the existing relations.
"Parliamentarians of both countries have contributed from their respective sides. We can utilize this practice and contribution for the benefit of our people. I will like to express my happiness over the formation of the Nepal-France inter-parliamentary group in both Houses," opined Timilsina.
Lauding the support of France in Nepal's democratic process, he recalled the basic norms of the French revolution.
NA Chair thanked France for its medical assistance provided to Nepal during the COVID-19 pandemic. He shared, "Nepali aircraft are not allowed to fly in the European sky. I believe that an environment conducive to flying Nepali aircraft in the European sky will be created at the coordination of France."
Similarly, Group Chairperson Salmon extended gratitude for the warm welcome accorded to him and his delegation in Nepal.
Sharing about the eco-tourism practices done by France to mitigate the impacts of climate change, he added that France was ready to support Nepal in this regard.
