Another high level delegation from the United States is scheduled to visit Nepal. Recently, a team of US lawmakers visited Nepal and returned.
The Joe Biden administration is now sending Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya to visit Nepal.
According to sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, her team will visit Nepal before the local elections. During a regular press briefing on Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Sewa Lamsal indicated a high-level visit from the United States.
But she did not name the official leading the US delegation. Zeya will be the highest-ranking US official to visit Nepal in almost a decade. Earlier in 2012, two US Deputy Secretaries Wendy Sherman and Maria Otero had visited Nepal.
With the 75th anniversary of Nepal-US diplomatic relations, the number of visits to the United States has increased. This has increased after the Nepali Parliament approved the Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact (MCC).
