Impeachment motion registered against CJ Rana at HoR

A motion of impeachment has been filed against Supreme Court Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana at the Parliament Secretariat today.

A total of 98 members of parliament from ruling Nepali Congress and its coalitlation partners Maoist Center and CPN Socialist egistered the impeachment motion.

Nepal bar association and other right activists have been long asking CJ Rana to gracefully stepdown from the position after accusation of him being associated with various violation of code of conduct and failing to maintain judicial environement at the SC surfaced.
the impeachment motion was filed today at the 107 th day of the protest program from advocates and various justices from the court.

The FJF-N expressed solidarity with dissident Justices and urged the public to have patience till the resumption of case hearings.

Meanwhile, advocate Salik Ram Sapkota who had been leading the protest said that CJ Rana won't be eligible to sit in any bench from today onwards as per existing laws. 

CJ Rana face impechment as per article 101 of the constituion which has prvisions for impechment.
