The newly constructed building of the Social Welfare Council’s Vocational Training Center at Budhanilkantha built with the support of the Qatar Charity has been inaugurated.
The Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizens and Chairperson of the Social Welfare Council, Uma Regmi, inaugurated the newly constructed building on Tuesday.
During the inauguration and handover ceremony, Minister Regmi was accompanied by the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Nepal, Yousuf Bin Mohammad Al-Hail.
While addressing the program, Minister Regmi thanked Qatar's Charity and expressed her belief that the Vocational Training Centre would conduct full-time training and create self-employment opportunities for the youths.
She further expressed the hope that Qatar Charity will contribute to positive changes in society through more similar programs in the future.
Member Secretary of Social Welfare Council Manoj Bhatta, Heads of Departments Prahlad Babu Pant, Bhagwati Sangroula, Sanjay Mallik and Executive Director of Qatar Charity Irshad Ali Shaikh, representatives of Budhanilkantha Municipality and representatives of various international NGOs were present in the ceremony.
The special guest of the program, Ambassador Al-Hail, said that he was happy to help Nepal and Nepalis who have helped build Qatar. He also committed more help from the Qatari side in the coming days.
The Acting Director of Qatar Charity, Irshad Sheikh, said that the building had been built with the aim of helping the youth develop their vocational skills. He said that Qatar Charity is hopeful that this building will get significance and will be meaningful.
The Secretary of the Social Welfare Council, Manoj Bhatt, while addressing the program thanked Qatar Charity for constructing the Vocational Training Centre’s building and expressed the commitment that the building would be used for conducting vocational training.
The new building has been constructed in place of the old building which was destroyed by the devastating Gorkha earthquake.
The building has been constructed at an area of 4,816 square feet with a cost of around Rs. 12 million.
The building has 4 training rooms, 2 office rooms, 1 seminar hall, 1 kitchen, and 8 toilets.
Coinciding with the inauguration and handover ceremony of the Centre’s building, a 3-month sewing training was also inaugurated for the women of the Budhanilkantha area.
The best participants in the training will receive sewing machines and other necessary sewing equipment.
