On Saturday, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki and Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava jointly inaugurated the School Building of Mahendra Secondary School, Barahakshetra-6 of Sunsari district.
The Indian government helped to build the school in 2007. The school building was constructed some 14 years ago and was awaiting formal inauguration.
On behalf of the Minister of the Nepal government and being a permanent resident of Sunsari constituency 4, Minister Karki thanked the ambassador for the contribution in the construction of the Nepal-India Friendship Building.
Minister Karki said that constructed at a cost of Rs. 22.1 million with a total of 16 rooms, the building was built with the assistance of the Indian government has reflected the strong relationship between the two nations.
He said that the Indian government has been providing economic assistance of up to Rs. 10 billion annually and lately this figure has reached Rs. 60 billion.
Likewise, Indian Ambassador Srivastava said that the Indian government has given Nepal the highest priority as a good neighboring country. He said that there will always be the support of the Indian government in Nepal’s overall development, including economic prosperity. For Sunsari alone, the Indian government has provided seven school buses, and some ambulances and even helped in constructing a hospital.
