Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to pay a visit to Nepal on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti in May.
This will be his third visit to Nepal. According to Indian news agency The Hindu, Modi will attend a program in Lumbini, the birthplace of the Buddha. The Prime Minister of Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba will also participate in the program.
This will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Nepal since assuming his second term as the Prime Minister of India.
Modi had earlier visited Nepal in 2019. This is Modi's first visit to Nepal since assuming his second term as Indian Prime Minister.
