Kwatra assumes the responsibility of Indian Foreign Secretary

Former Ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra has assumed the responsibility of Indian Foreign Secretary from today.

Kwatra , a 1988 batch officer in the Indian Foreign Service, is an experienced diplomat for South Asia strategy. 

Kwatra has previously served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs and the Prime Minister's Office, Government of India.

From 2010 to 2013, he also worked at the Indian Embassy in the United States.

From July 2013 to October 2015, Kwatra  served as head of the Ministry of External Affairs Department of Policy Planning and Research, as well as the Department's head of United State Division.

Kwatra has worked in various positions in various Indian missions in India and abroad at different times. He was appointed by the Government of India as Ambassador to Nepal in January 2020.
