Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is on a three-day official visit to India, today held a one-on-one meeting with Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House today.
Apart from the regular bilateral talks, the visibly elated Prime Minister duo has open-heartedly praised the good relationship between the two countries from historic times. After the talk, Indian Prime Minister Modi talking to the media said that the friendships between the two countries are exemplary. He said that there are no better friendly nations than India and Nepal elsewhere where people's relationship is also exemplarily. “The string between civilization and culture of the two countries are attached since ancient times.
Earlier the Prime Ministers jointly inaugurate four projects in Nepal — Jainagar - Kurtha Rail service, Solu corridor transmission line, and Indian Digital paying app ‘Rupay’.
After Modi and Deuba showed the green flag virtually to the Nepal-Jainagar railway system from Haidrabad House the train that had been mothballed for the last couple of years. Similarly, the 90 kilometers long 132 KV transmission line will let the electricity produced in the hilly Solukhumbu district join the main transmission line up to Siraha’s Mirchaiya in the flat land of Terai. The transmission line with 302 towers was built with the subsidised loan from India’s Export-Import Bank.
India’s PM Modi also said that both countries shall go forward with the Pancheshwor Multipurpose Project. PMP is a bi-national hydropower project to be developed in the Mahakali River bordering Nepal and India. Development of PMP is a mutual interest project between two countries and is covered under the integrated Mahakali Treaty signed between Nepal and India according to which, equal sizes of underground power houses i.e. of 3240MV will be constructed on each side of the Mahakali river in India and Nepal. Moreover, the PMP also offers benefit of regulated water for irrigation to a vast area of agricultural land both in Nepal and India along with benefit of flood control at downstream.
PM Deuba has asked India to provide additional three air flight route inside Nepal through India. Talking about the Bhairawa International Airport, Deuba has asked India to let commercial planes fly into Nepal through Mahendranagar, Nepalgunj, and Janakpur. The new route will also help Nepal to operate soon to be inaugurated Bhairawa International Airport. Similarly, Deuba has said that he has talked about the issue of border dispute with his counterpart. It is reported that Deuba asked Modi to finalise the border dispute through dialogues.
Similarly, Deuba who is in official visit to India with the invitation of Modi, has invited his counterpart to visit Nepal.
