An improvised explosive device has been found at Surahi rivulet of Shivaraj municipality-1 in Kapilvastu.
A bomb disposal team of the Nepali Army defused the explosive material found near Surahi bridge along the east-west highway this morning.
Locals, who went swimming in the rivulet, informed the Nepal Police after seeing suspicious material.
Police Inspector at Ward Police Office, Chandrauta, Kapil Jung Shahi, said they received the information about the suspicious material on Friday, and NA's bomb disposal team of Gorusinge defused it this morning.
The explosive material might have been left there during the then conflict period.
