The Government of Nepal has formally stood against the Russian move to attack Ukraine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today issuing a notice urged all parties concerned to exercise maximum restraint not to escalate tension further more. It said in the statement, “Nepal views that the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity as enshrined in the UN Charter are sacrosanct and must be fully respected by all member states.”
Saying that the MoFA has been closely following the developments in Ukraine, it cannot recognise Ukraine’s Donetsk and Luhansk regions as independent entities as it goes contrary to the provisions of the UN Charter.
“Nepal opposes any use of force against a sovereign country in any circumstance and believes in peaceful resolution of disputes through diplomacy and dialogue.”
As soon as Russian President Vladimir Putin announces military operation in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region today monring, it deployed a full-scale invasioin in Ukraine.
