The Pakistani Embassy in Kathmandu today organized the Inauguration Ceremony of 7 th Edition of Nepal-Pakistan Friendship T20 Cricket Tournament 2022.
Twelve cricket teams are participating in the nine-days event.
The event was inaugurated by Bidya Sunder Shakya, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan.
Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Shakya appreciated the Embassy’s initiative for organizing such sports activities. He highlighted the potential of cricket and sports in bringing the youth of two countries together.
In his remarks, Pakistani ambassador to Nepal Syed Haider Shah said that in these times of COVID, the
importance of sprots and outdoor activities had increased further. He said that the growing popularity of cricket in Nepal indicated that it may not be far away from achieving membership of ICC. He said that Pakistan was keen to help realize Nepal’s cricket dream. He said that this event would contribute to further deepening the friendly ties between the two countries.
Ambassador Shah thanked the Mayor and the Nepalese government for all their support in organizing this event.
The Tournament is scheduled to conclude on 10 March 2022. The event will be streamed live on Nepalese channel “Action Sports”.
