A Nepali peacekeeper has been injured in a rebel shooting in Congo. His condition is critical.
A Nepali soldier serving in the first batch of peacekeepers deployed in the Democratic Republic of Congo at the call of the United Nations was injured on Tuesday.
During the operation conducted under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Nikhil Kunwar, he was attacked. During the search operation, the rebels fired suddenly.
According to the spokesperson of the Nepal Army, Brigadier General Narayan Silwal, the Nepal Army had reached the place after liberating the land previously occupied by the rebels. Meanwhile, a person was injured in a firing incident from an unknown place.
"The injured soldiers have been rescued by helicopter and are being treated at the Label-2 Hospital in Buniya," he said. According to him, the condition of the injured is critical.
Silwal said all other members of the army were safe.
