Nepalis stranded in Ukraine asked to seek refuge in bordering countries

 

With the situation continuing to worsen in Ukraine following the invasion by Russia, Nepali government authorities have asked its citizens to make their way into bordering countries.

 

The Nepal Embassy in Berlin has urged all Nepali nationals in Ukraine to get into the countries like Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania. They can enter such countries through opened border points like Medyka, Korczowej, and Dorohusk for Poland, Vysne Nemecke from Dastor in Ukraine for Slovakia, Chop TTysa), Chop (Druzhba), Dzvinkove, and Kosyno for Hungary and Siret, Lunca la Tisa, and Sighetu Marmatiei for Romania.

 

It has also asked Nepalis to remain alert, safe, and strong, stating that the government is making efforts for their safe passage out of the conflict zone.

Nepali citizens who are still in Ukrainian territory are requested to follow the instruction of the authorities concerned, to stay indoors, be in possession of passport or other identity documents, and cash at all times for emergency purposes. Similarly, they are asked to keep vaccination certificates to themselves and to contact the embassy in Germany or other dedicated services in case of an emergency.

 

Nepali embassy in Germany claimed that eight Nepali citizens have left Ukraine to Republic of Slovakia while 23 are on the way to the Slovak border. Similarly, two Nepalis have entered the Republic of Hungary from Ukraine. While one Nepali has already entered Romania, two others are on the way to the Romanian border. Meanwhile, 25 Nepalis have entered the Republic of Poland while over 100 others are in the process of registration at the reception centers after entry into Poland.

Meanwhile, some Nepalis stranded in Ukraine talking to Pardafas said that they did not want to return back to Nepal as they urged authorities to help them enter other neighbouring countries and continue their studies there.
