A one-day street festival is taking place here on September 27 on the occasion of World Tourism Day. Organized every year on this occasion, the venue for the fair this year is the area from Fishtail Gate to Barahi Chowk in Lake Side.
It starts from 5 pm to 10 pm, said the event organizer, Restaurant & Bar Association of Nepal (REBAN) at a press conference here today. The Nepal Tourism Board has promoted the event. Varieties of domestic and foreign dishes, various ethnic cultural dances, Gandharva songs, Lakhe dances, Panche Baza, and various adventure sports will be the attraction of the fair, said the program coordinator Bikash Bhattarai, also the REBAN General Secretary.
On the occasion, the REBAN acting president Bishwo Paudel stressed the need for carrying out touristic activities by linking tourism, the major basis for the country's economic development, with various aspects. He also pointed out the 'important' role of media persons in the promotion of tourism.
Similarly, on the occasion, the Pokhara Tourism Council is organizing the 'Pokhara International Airport and World Tourism Bazaar', said the Council General Secretary Sanjaya Kanta Sigdel.
During the period, 10 journalists from various cities of neighboring India will be invited to observe various touristic destinations of the tourist city, Pokhara, he said.
Similarly, interactions with country managers of airlines operating international flights will also be organized. Out of approximately 24 airlines operating international flights at present, representatives from 10 will take part in the interactions, he said.
