Pakistan celebrates 75th Independence Day

Pakistan is celebrating today (Sunday) its diamond jubilee, the 75th anniversary, of its Independence Day with great enthusiasm and traditional zeal.

The country gained independence from British rule on August 14, 1947.

The day dawned with a 31-one gun salute in the federal capital and 21-one gun salute in the provincial headquarters.

Special prayers were offered in mosques at dawn for peace, solidarity, and prosperity of the country.

The main feature of the celebration of Pakistans Independence day every year is hoisting its national flag all over the country.

Today, the national flag of Pakistan has been hoisted at provincial, divisional, and district headquarters levels throughout the country.

Similarly, On the occasion of the 75th Independence Day of Pakistan, a simple and graceful flag hoisting ceremony was held in Kathmandu, Nepal at the Embassy of Pakistan today. Ambassador, Syed Haider Shah hoisted the flag.

Addressing the flag hoisting ceremony Ambassador Syed Haider Shah recalled the history of the Pakistan movement under the leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Referring to the Jammu Kashmir dispute, the Ambassador said that resolution of this long outstanding dispute in accordance to the wishes of the people and the UN resolutions was indispensable for lasting peace, stability and prosperity of the region.

Embassy Officers & Officials and the Pakistani community attended the ceremony.

 

History of Pakistan's independence

President of Pakistan  Dr. Arif Alvi in his message on Independence Day, urged the nation to remain steadfast and work wholeheartedly for the development and progress, and prosperity of the country.

“We need to remain united to overcome financial, economic, and security challenges faced by the country. Let us pledge that we will remain steadfast to render any sacrifice for the dignity and self-respect of our people and greatness and glory of our beloved homeland,” the president said in a message on the 75th anniversary of the Independence of Pakistan being observed on August 14 (today).

Messages from the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif

Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, in his message on Independence Day, said that nothing is more dangerous for a nation than internal division, disruption, and chaos for such negative forces undermine the solidarity and integrity of the country and rob societies of their national purpose.

He said that Independence Day is a watershed moment in our nation’s history.
