Parties in coalition including leading communist parties okays ratification of MCC with 'explanatory remarks'

All parties in the ruling coalition has decided to ratify the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) today months after wooing of the Nepali Congress.

Senior Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel talking to media after the meeting at Baluwatar said the  coalition forces decided to ratify the MCC with some reservation. The parties including Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre) led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) and NCP (United Socialist) led by Madhav Kumara Nepal led has agrred to ratify under condition of registering explanatory remarks on the House of Representatives.

Leader Barsaman Pun of NCP - Maoist in an interview with a media here said that they will put remark on the HoR saying that the USA has  'declared MCC is not a part of Indo-Pacific Strategy' and 'keep menifesto of the things the USA has denied about'. 

Poudel claimed that, the MCC will be passed by the second meeting of the parliament today.

A meeting of the ruling coalition at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar took the decision to this effect.

Earlier today, the ruling parties were in internal discussions on the issue. The coalition is still undergoing meeting to discuss it furhter.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, “Prachanda”, Nepal, JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav and other top leaders of the coalition parties attended the meeting.

Leaders including NC leader Poudel, General Secretary Gagan Thapa and former General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula were also in the meeting.

The House of Representatives meeting  is scheduled at 1 pm today and the dead line given by the US to raticy MCC is tomorrow.
