Police purpose gov to place AIG as a head of CIB , Government mulling to add three more AIGs

The Police Headquarters has submitted a new Organization and Management Survey (O&M) to the Ministry of Home Affairs, along with a demand for additional posts of Additional Inspector General in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB), State Police Coordination Desk and Human Resources Department of the Nepal Police.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (Establishment and Operation) Rules, 2070 BS provides for the Deputy Inspector General (Director) to be the head of the bureau established as a specialized investigation unit of the police. Now, with the addition of AIG posts in the bureau, the director will have to be made the director general.

Similarly, AIG post has been demanded for the state police coordination desk. The post is being created amid complaints that there is difficulty in coordination with the state government and security agencies due to lack of AIG even in the states. Earlier, AIG posts were held in all the seven states but it was cut during the tenure of Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa.

Similarly, the government has made preparations to keep AIG in the two departments of administration and human resources after splitting the administration department and human resources of the police during his tenure.

According to a senior source at the Police Headquarters, Inspector General of Police Shailesh Thapa Chhetri has handed over the new O&M to the Ministry after receiving a request from the Home Ministry. As soon as it is approved by the Council of Ministers, the promotion process will move forward.

DIGs Dibesh Lohani, Dhiraj Pratap Singh, Uttam Raj Subedi, Arun BC, Basant Pant, Rabindra Dhanuk and Ganesh Bahadur Aire are the main contenders for promotion in the police.
