Putin will not attend Abe’s state funeral

Japan’s Fumio Kishida government will not allow Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the state funeral of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

After the murder, Abe’s family funeral has been completed. However, the government has decided to hold a formal state funeral on September 27 in the presence of the public and other dignitaries.

The event is expected to be held at the Nippon Budokan in central Tokyo. The ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is expected to invite all major political leaders from around the world.

But Japan banned Putin after Russia invaded Ukraine.  Therefore, even if Putin decides to participate in Abe’s funeral, he will not be allowed, according to the Japanese media.

After the Russia-Ukraine war, Japan stood by Ukraine. Until now, Tokyo has imposed various sanctions on Moscow and provided military weapons to Ukraine.
