Rahul Gandhi's 'father and uncle style', Home Ministry and security personnel under tension

Top leader of Indian National Congress Party Rahul Gandhi is in Kathmandu on a private visit. Even though his visit was said to be private, home ministry officials and security personnel are under tension as they did not have prior knowledge of it.

Moreover, the tension has increased when Rahul walks calmly in the style of his father, former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi and uncle Sanjay Gandhi. His father, Rajiv Gandhi, attended a public event. Indian intelligence agencies had told Rajiv not to attend the program. Where he was killed by a suicide bomber.

Similarly, his uncle Sanjay had died in a plane crash. They tried to stop him from flying that day.

Rahul's grandmother Indira Gandhi was also assassinated in India.

Rahul is a member of the main opposition Congress and the Gandhi family in India. He is one of the few leaders in India who has a special interest in security.

However, Home Ministry officials and the Police Headquarters are in a dilemma as there is no prior information about Rahul's visit to Nepal, his visit schedule and the people accompanying him.

According to a senior Home Ministry official, all units in the Kathmandu Valley have been placed on alert for Rahul's safety. Similarly, the Police Headquarters has deployed plainclothes police from the Special Bureau and  Valley Crime Investigation Office. Similarly, the unit responsible for Rahul's arrival has been asked to provide security there.

According to a source at the Police Headquarters, the airport security chief SSP Bhim Prasad Dhakal was shocked when Rahul Gandhi landed from a Vistara Air flight at 4.40 pm on Monday.

He immediately informed the Secretariat of the Inspector General and the Metropolitan Police Office. After that, Reiki and surveillance started at the Hotel Marriott where he was staying and wherever he could go.

Rahul had suddenly arrived at a nightclub in Thamel with some of his Nepali and Indian friends on Monday night. According to the police officer who was deployed to protect him earlier, Rahul does not like to walk with security personnel. He likes to walk in his own way.

According to security sources, Rahul may also visit the Indian Embassy in Lazimpat this time.

This time Rahul has come to Nepal to attend the wedding of his old friend Sumnima Udas. A reception for Sumnima's wedding was organized at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Boudh on May 5.

Rahul had earlier come to Kathmandu in 2018 to visit Kailash Mansarovar.
