DIG Basant Kunwar has been given the responsibility of the election commander of police. DIG Kunwar will now take over the election command of the Nepal Police.
AIG Sahkul Thapa, who was also the election commander of the police or election cell coordinator, has been given the responsibility of the National Police Training Academy.
With the November 20 elections approaching, the police headquarters has been involved in the promotion and transfer of police.
A central election cell led by Thapa was formed for the House of Representatives and State Assembly elections to be held on November 20. But he was transferred before the work started.
Now the Kunwar-led cell will study the sensitivity of the polling stations.
It is said that the election commander has been changed after the proposal of Home Minister Balkrishna Khand and due to the interest of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
