Rupandehi call center case: Chinese fraud network spreads all over the country

Using the Nepali land with the investment of the Chinese agents, the network of cheating the citizens of third countries including India has started to become nationwide. Rupandehi Police after raiding the Blue Sky Call Center at  Tilottama Municipality Ward No. 2, it has been revealed that the area of ​​the same type of fraud has expanded.

Police arrested 9 people including an Indian national in a raid after getting information that they set up a call center for fraud by taking three flats in Janakinagar. Similarly, inquiries have been made with more than 200 people working there.

According to the police, the arrested are investors and facilitators of the call center. Further investigation is going on in their matter.

The Indian citizens are cheated. SP Ravindra Regmi, Head of District Police Office, Rupandehi, said that they were found to be cheating by asking for Aadhaar card, permanent account number, and bank account number of Indians.

It was advertised that you can get a loan through an app made by the Chinese for fraud. Through that advertisement, Indian citizens used to come in contact with the company through that application and take loans through Chinese citizens.

It has been found that after applying on the app, they ask for an account number and Chinese citizens used to send money to the account.

It came to know that the center gives loans of a small amount of money to the Indian common people and if they do not return it within the specified terms, the victim's mobile phone is hacked and blackmailed by sending obscene pictures/videos.

For which the gang made them download an app like WhatsApp which they had developed before giving the loan.

SP Pokharel said that those arrested are being kept in police custody and are being interrogated further. They have said in the initial statement that its real role player is Chinese and that the business has spread in association with some Nepalis. They revealed that some journalists are also helping.

Earlier last year too, it was found that the Chinese were defrauding Indians by opening companies in the name of Nepalese in Mid Baneshwor of Kathmandu and  SanoThimi of Bhaktapur.

In that incident last year in Falgun 8, a Chinese national was arrested along with 36 Nepali from Mid Baneshwor, and the next day on Falgun 9, 80 Nepali nationals including a Chinese national were arrested from Sanothimi on charges of fraud by operating a call center.
