Minister for Finance and senior leader of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), Janardan Sharma today said that they are trying to meet a national consensus to pass the American backed Millennium Challenge Corpoation (MCC) project through the House of Representatives.
Speaking at a public function organized at the Ministry of Finance on Thursday, Finance Minister Sharma said that the efforts were being made to seek national consensus among the political parties regarding the MCC project.
He noted that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his party leaders along with other senior leaders from the coalition government are working to build consensus to this end.
Finance Minister Sharma said, "We all know that MCC will work like a project in the field of energy sector, and to build roads. But since this issue has become a bit politicized we are discussing among the political parties and leaders to reach a collective consensus. I'm convinced that the government will soon build a national consensus along with the efforts of the Prime Minister."
He also said that he was confident that the Prime Minister's efforts to seek national consensus on the MCC project would soon yield positive results.
