CPN (Maoist Center) leader Janardan Sharma has been reappointed as finance minister.
In accordance with Article 76 (9) of the Nepalese Constitution, President Bhandari appointed Sharma as Minister of Finance on the recommendation of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Sharma has been appointed by the President’s Office to take over the Ministry of Finance, which was previously kept by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba with him.
Sharma resigned on July 6 after the 11-member parliamentary committee was formed to investigate allegations against him.
Sharma was accused of inviting unauthorized persons to the Finance Ministry to tweak tax rates at the time of finalizing the budget on the night of May 28.
The parliamentary special committee formed to investigate charges of budget tampering against him gave a clean chit concluding that unauthorized persons didn’t change tax rates in the budget for the current fiscal year.
Janardan Sharma will take an oath in President Building at 5:30 pm.
