CPN-Maoist Center leader Barshaman Pun has said that he will be a candidate for the Socialist front in the parliamentary elections to be held in November.
“Agreement has already been reached among Maoist Center, CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), Baburam Bhattarai, and Bam Dev Gautam to form the socialist center,” Pun told to reporters at Baneshwor on Sunday.
Pun further said, "We are ready to contest in 165 constituencies. Depending on the need, there may be coordination with Nepali Congress (NC) in some places."
He said that even if the electoral alliance is formed now, there is no possibility of party unity before the elections.
He stated that there would basically be two main political forces in Nepal after the formation of the socialist front. “Nepali Congress will now lead the traditional forces. The socialist front will lead the progressive forces. It is up to CPN-UML to decide where it will go.”
He added that his focus is on the formation of a socialist front rather than strengthening the alliance with Nepali Congress.
