The international, regional and national security environment is on stir: Nepali Army Chief

Nepali Chief of Army Staff General Prabhu Ram Sharma has said that the international, regional and national security environment has been stirred in the current scenario where power nations has been competition to take a special place to establish its hold in the economic, political and military spheres.

He noted that while the scope of security is widening in the country, traditional security threats and unconventional challenges are being added to national security.

“In order to properly manage such multifaceted challenges, it is necessary to develop a strategic culture in the political, diplomatic, strategic and educational sectors. As well as general public are also needed increase knowledge on strategic perceptions and thinking and emphasizing the fact that it needs to be understood and practiced,” General Sharma said.

 

He also informed that they are preparing for a special program including international level seminar with the participation of people who have made special contribution in the national and international arena by further expanding the United Nations Day of the coming year.

 

He made the remarks at the concluding ceremony of the 7th High Level National Security Training organized by the Ministry of Defense and the Nepali Army at the Military Command and Staff College in Shivpuri on Friday.

 

The program concluded with the participation of of the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sher Bahadur Deuba as a chief guest.

     

In his closing remarks, the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Deuba said that the small changes in the international and regional security environment due to the sensitive geo-political situation of the country would affect the political, economic, social and overall security of the country. He also said that everyone should be alert and committed to not let any kinds of loss to the nation.

Dueba also informed that there is a need to strengthen inter-agency coordination and cooperation among various agencies in strengthening national security.

A total of 28 people including senior officers and media personnel of Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, National Investigation Department, various ministries and Nepal Red Cross participated in the national level security training which was first started from 2072 BS. So far, 143 people have participated in this training.

 

The closing ceremony was attended by secretaries of various ministries, security chiefs, former principals of education, guest speakers and Nepal Army convoys and officers.
