US President Joe Biden, in his first annual address to the US Capitol riots on January 6, 2021, blamed former President Donald Trump for the incident.
Speaking in Congress on Thursday morning (local time), President Biden accused his predecessor of being responsible for the attack on the seat of US democracy.
"For the first time in our history, a president has not only lost an election. He also tried to stop a peaceful transfer of power when a violent mob stormed the Capitol, but they failed. On this day of remembrance, we must make sure that such an attack never happens again," Biden said.
Without naming Trump, Biden aggressively blamed Trump for what happened that day. No other leader has called Biden a "lying trap" around the 2020 election and called it an attack on American democracy.
"We need to be clear about what is true and what is false," Biden said. He said that those who value power over principle see their own interests more important than the interests of their country and the interests of the United States. The hurt ego is more important to him than our democracy or our constitution. "
Biden slammed Trump, saying "he can't accept defeat, he can't accept defeat. Although 93 senators, his own attorney general, his own vice president, governors and state officials all say he lost." But he does not accept.
