UAE express confident to support stranded Nepalis migrant workers

Labour minister meets UAE ambassador

Ambassador of UAE to Nepal Saeed Hamdan Al Naqbi has expressed commitment to work together with the government of Nepal in providing security and help stray Nepali labourers find jobs in the UAE itself.

Ambassador Al Naqbi said so during a joint meeting with Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha.

The commitment was also made by Minister Shrestha to safely return the lost employees or give them better employment back there. Every month hundreds of Nepali youth get stranded in the UAE on ‘visit visa’ from the hands of swindlers who lure them with better jobs there. In pretext of this minister Shrestha has also scheduled a visit to UAE for the next week.

Minister Shrestha’s visit is targeted towards providing justice to the victim of human trafficking and identifying and punishing people involved in these crimes.

Minister Shrestha had also sought help from ambassador Al Naqbi on supporting stray Nepalis who had reached there without proper work permits from companies and no one to support them.

Minister Shrestha is supposed to make diplomatic effort on various topics related to Nepali migrant workers like: providing job opportunities for the trafficked persons in the UAE, support stranded Nepalis by extending VISA limitation period and reducing the fine amount they need to pay or to provide amnesty to the stranded Nepalis wrongfully accused in different offences or to rescue them back into the country when needed.

Minister Shrestha said that assistance was expected from the UAE government to bring to justice those involved in making fake demands, issuing false assurances of jobs and luring Nepalis with lucrative employment opportunities. During the discussion, Ambassador Al Naqbi said that necessary assistance would be provided to the stranded Nepalis in the UAE to provide employment and rescue.

A meeting of the Nepal-UAE Joint Committee will also be organized during Minister Shrestha's visit to the UAE.
