An agreement has been met with the UN’s Green Climate Fund, informs the center’s spokesperson Navaraj Dhakal.
This proposal was approved last year but the program will now be implemented. According to Finance Ministry, an agreement has been reached to promote electric stoves, especially in the Terai region of Nepal.
The Alternative Energy Promotion Centre will work with municipalities and rural municipalities of the Terai region to implement this.
The Government is planning to minimize the use of fossil fuels and has been planning to promote the use of electric stoves throughout the country.
The government has declared that one electric stove will be supplied as a subsidy to one family at the local level through the budget.
According to the Nepal Electricity Authority, there are currently about 43 lakh 30 thousand household electricity customers.
