At least 60 domestic animals have died at Tajakot Rural Municipality in Humla district. Unidentified diseases spreading across the villages for two weeks are blamed for the death of the cattle.
The animals showed stomach swelling and body shivering before death, said, local people. So far, 60 domestic animals have died, said Dhan Bahadur Rokaya of Tajakot-2, adding that cattle have died at the ward-1 and 2 on a daily basis.
However, authorities concerned are least concerned about the matter. Employees mobilized by the rural municipality returned without resolving the problem saying they lacked the required medicines. Lack of treatment for infirm animals has added to the problem, said Dal Bahadur Khadka of the rural municipality-1.
"Animals have been dying emptying the animal sheds. However, the rural municipality employees and people's representatives have not shown concerns."
But, the rural municipality chair Lalkesh Jaisi said vaccinating domestic animals against diseases was underway. (RSS)
