Upper House lawmakers draw govt.'s attention on contemporary issues

Lawmakers of the National Assembly, the upper house of the Federal Parliament, have drawn the government's attention on the country's contemporary issues. 

Speaking in the zero hour of today's NA meeting, they drew the government's attention on various issues including the need to increase women's candidacies in the coming election and control dengue disease.

On the occasion, Anita Devkota requested all political parties to increase the number of women candidates toward first-past-the-post election keeping the sentiments of the constitution in the coming election of the House of Representatives and Province Assembly in mind. 

She drew the government's attention to take effective steps immediately to spray pesticides destroying the mosquito larva and spread awareness in order to control dengue disease. 

Saying around 36,000 teachers and staff working at government schools across the country have been launching an agitation for a long putting forth various demands, Dil Kumari Thapa (Parbati) asked the government to make arrangements of salary as per their position. 

She urged the government to resolve the problems of loan shark victims. 

Similarly, Dr. Bimala Rai Poudyal said all individuals holding public posts taking a salary from people's taxes are people's servants, not rulers. 

She expressed the view that the individual holding the public post should apologize for his behavior toward the worker.   --RSS
