“We already knew about explanatory declaration on MCC”, US ambassador Berry

 

United States ambassador to Nepal Randy  Berry said they had known it earlier about the explanatory declaration of the MCC made by the government and the House of Representatives a few days ago. 
"We already knew about the MCC's explanatory announcement by the government and the House of Representatives. The explanatory declaration covers the issues we have been talking about,”said Ambassador Berry.
Berry’s statement came during a courtesy call on Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand today at the ministry ‘to discuss’ mutual relationship between two countries.
MoHA in a press release today citing to Berry said that the MCC was passed due to the clear vision of the Prime Minister, Government of Nepal and political parties. Berry also said that he met PM Deuba on thanked him for passing the MCC personally.
Similarly, minister Khand thanked ambassador Berry and the US government for their support with Millennium Challenge Corporation.
Home Minister Khand reminding about the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s effort to ratify the MCC from lower house, He said that Deuba had always hold firm and clear views about it not only when he was in power but also when he was in opposition to get the MCC passed. 

“Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba was determined to get the MCC passed even when he was in opposition. He also had particular concern not to break the current coalition. Which he did it successfully and we Nepal government and people are happy about it,” Khand told Berry as per the press release.
During the meeting, US ambassador Berry said that the MCC was passed due to the clear vision of the Prime Minister, Government of Nepal and political parties. Berry also said that he met PM Deuba on thanked him for passing the MCC personally.
Berry also thanked the Government of Nepal for the security arrangements provided at the US Embassy and other US assistance agencies during the presentation of the MCC at the house. He expressed confidence that the United States would always stand by Nepal's development, prosperity and peace.
In reply Khand said that the Government of Nepal is committed to maintaining a deep and harmonious relationship between Nepal and the United States.
