Uzra Zeya, the US Deputy Secretary of State for Civil Security, Democracy and Human Rights and the US Special Coordinator for Tibetan Affairs, is scheduled to visit India and Nepal from May 17 to 22.
The State Department said in a statement that the visit was aimed at deepening cooperation on human rights and democratic governance and advancing humanitarian priorities.
She is also scheduled to discuss partnership with India and Nepal to hold a summit for democracy. The delegation will also include Anjali Kaur, USAID's Deputy Assistant Administrator for Asia.
Earlier in December, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that Zeya would be acting as special coordinator for the Tibetan issue.
