Babar Azam is currently one of the best batters across formats in world cricket.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is one step closer in his quest to become the No.1 batter in all three formats of the game after he inched closer to the top Test ranking on the latest ICC Men’s Player Rankings.
The right-handed batter already holds the top spot in both ODIs and T20Is.
The 27-year-old Azam has risen up to the No. 3 spot in the World and is yet to reach the summit at the Test level and still trails England’s Joe Root following the latest rankings update released by the ICC on Wednesday.
Babar is 11 ratings behind Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne, ranked second.
He is also close to matching Ricky Ponting’s record in international cricket. The former Australian captain is the only batsman ever to top the rankings in all three formats of the game at the same time.
Babar recently said it was a dream of his to become the No.1 ranked batter in all three formats of the game and this rankings rise sees him move that little bit closer to achieving that very difficult goal.
He is also the only batter to feature inside the top three across all formats.
