A Nepali football team participating in the U-20 Men’s SAFF Championship in India has left for India on Friday.
The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) bid farewell to the U-20 national team before they fly to India. The farewell was held as part of a special program on Friday at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato.
ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang, Senior Vice President Bir Bahadur Khadka, Vice President Deepak Khatiwada, General Secretary Kiran Rai, Treasurer Rabindra Joshi, and central members Mahendra Chhetri and Sarila Shrestha presented the national flag to the players and officials during the farewell ceremony, while National Sports Council Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising presented flower garlands to the players and officials.
ANFA president Nembang expressed his expectations for the team to relive its glory days. "Every player's and coaching staff's efforts will undoubtedly result in positive results. I wish you the best of luck in your campaign ", said the President.
There are five teams in the championship, including the host India, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
Nepal will pay with the Maldives on July 25 as an inaugural match.
Similarly, Nepal will play its second match with Sri Lanka on July 27 and the third match with India on July 31.
Likewise, Nepal will play another match with Bangladesh on August 2.
The top two teams in the championship will play the final match on August 5.
Ishwor Gurung, Unesh Chaudhary and Jiyarath Sheikh, Amar Shrestha, Sonit Dahal, Ayush Shrestha, Ajay Chaudhary, Sumit Shrestha, Srijan Dhani, Roshan Thapa, Abhishek Waiba, Dipesh Gurung, Ashish Rai, Sandeep Karki, Janmajaya Dhami, Mohit Gurung, Kritish Ratna Chhunju, Sugam Suwal, Managya Nakarmi, Ayush Ghalan, Dipesh Rai, Niranjan Malla, and Roshan Khadgi are in the team.
The Championship is scheduled to take place in Bhubaneshwar of India from July 25 to August 5.
