Yeti Airlines and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have reached an agreement on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The agreement was signed between the airlines and UNDP at a function in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
The agreement was signed by Anoj Rimal, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Yeti Airlines on behalf of the airlines and Ayshanie Medagangoda-Labé, Chief of Nepal on behalf of UNDP.
Speaking on the occasion, Rimal, CEO of Yeti Airlines, said that Nepal has been working with UNDP on climate change, health, education and tourism since 2017. He said that so many airlines have been working in collaboration with UNDP by giving more priority to the field of environment. The agreement will provide additional support to the airline for technical, various training to work in the field of environment, said CEO Rimal. He said that the agreement was reached to make the work of planting trees, garbage collection of Mount Everest and increasing tourism more effective.
UNDP Nepal chief Ayshanie Medagangoda-Labé said the agreement with Yeti Airlines was not new. She said that she has been working in the field of environment continuously since 2017.
She said the agreement would play an important role in sustainable conservation and development of the environment to reduce carbon emissions. Chief Labe said he was happy to sign an agreement with Yeti Airlines to do more in the field of environment.
She said that an agreement has been reached to plant 50,000 saplings and manage the waste of Everest and promote tourism. Chief Labé said, "The agreement with Yeti Airlines is not new. We have been continuously working in the field of environment since 2017. We are happy to have an agreement with Yeti Airlines to do more work in the field of environment. The agreement includes an agreement to plant 50,000 saplings and manage Everest's waste and promote tourism.
Airlines had been campaigning to plant a sapling before the Corona epidemic. But the campaign has been halted due to the Corona epidemic. The airline has so far planted more than 273,000 saplings in various places.
