Correction to bill related to transitional justice demanded

Advocates have objected, saying attempts have been made to bring the bill related to transitional justice giving additional pain to conflict victims rather than providing justice.

Saying the current transitional justice bill would not provide justice to the victims and gives additional pain to them, they expressed the view that the bill should not be passed by the parliament.

At a news conference organized on Thursday, they blamed that the bill related to transitional justice has tried to give amnesty to perpetrators doing injustice to the victims.

The advocates urged the government to make criminals bear the criminal liability, adding any bill not making offenders bear the criminal liability is not acceptable.

On the occasion, senior advocate Dr. Dinesh Tripathi opined that the government should not make laws against people's welfare, constitution, and international treaties.
He further argued that the government should not make mistakes by classifying crimes like murder and rape.

Similarly, advocate and human right activist Mahamunishwor Acharya objected, saying the bill related to transitional justice has been tabled in the parliament obstructing the transitional justice process.

Leaders of the political parties were not seen as honest towards the issues of conflict victims, said advocate Indra Acharya. (RSS)
