Government confined Suspended CJ by locking his residence gate to stop him in entering SC

As the tenure of the Parliament ended without making a decision on the impeachment motion, Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana was preparing to return to the Supreme Court on Sunday.

But Rana, who was preparing to go to the Supreme Court today, has been confined at his home.

Many policemen were outside his residence barring him from getting out from his residence.

While he was preparing to leave for the Supreme Court, he came to know that the police locked the gate of his residence and prevented him to head towards Supreme Court.

The government has deployed security personnel outside the Supreme Court to stop the Chief Justice from entering the Supreme Court.

Law professionals have also appeared in the Supreme Court in large numbers to stop Rana, saying that the impeachment has not been dismissed.

According to Rana, he should be able to attend his regular duty since the impeachment against him has been inactive since last night.

The Impeachment Recommendation Committee on Saturday had submitted a report to Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota with a recommendation to impeach suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana.

Similarly, on Sunday morning after the meeting, Nepal Bar Association decided not to allow the suspended Chief Justice Rana to enter the Supreme Court.Rana was suspended on February 13 following the registration of the impeachment motion against him.
