Former chief justices challenged suspended CJ Cholendra to prove allegations

Four former chief justices have challenged suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana to prove allegations made against them.

Chief Justices sent a letter to the Impeachment Recommendation Committee of the House of Representatives on Thursday saying that they see no reason to attend the committee meeting and give statements just because an individual made baseless statements against them.

"It is not clear on which matter we have been invited to as the letter doesn't mention which matters related to us were mentioned in the statement. There is no dispute that the recommendation committee should proceed with the investigation focusing on the matters for which impeachment proceedings have been initiated as per Article 101 of the Constitution of Nepal," they said in the letter.

Furthermore, in the letter, they said, "As the person, who is impeached, cannot file a claim or indict anyone, his statement should center on defending him only,"

They have also challenged Rana to prove allegations made against them.

The four former chief justices are Anup Raj Sharma, Min Bahadur Rayamajhi, Kalyan Shrestha, and Sushila Karki .
